Novena for the Nativity of the Virgin Mary
(August 31 to September 7)
Holy Child Mary, of the royal house of David, Queen of the Angels, Mother of grace and love, I greet you with all my heart.
Obtain for me the grace to love God faithfully all the days of my life, and obtain for me also the way to honour you as is fitting,
you, the first creature of God’s love.

O Mary, heavenly Child, like a pure dove, born beautiful and without stain, sign of God’s wondrous wisdom,
my soul rejoices in you. Help me to keep the virtue of angelic purity, whatever the sacrifice.

Hail, holy and beloved Child Mary, garden of spiritual delight, where on the day of the Incarnation the tree of life was planted.
Help me to avoid the poisons of the fruit of lust and the pride of this world. Help me to engrave in my soul the thoughts, feelings and virtues of your divine Son.

Hail, wonderful Child Mary, mystical rose, enclosed garden opened only to the heavenly Bridegroom.
Lily of paradise, make me love the humble and hidden life,
and let the heavenly Bridegroom always find the door of my heart open to the calls of His love, His graces and His inspirations.

O Child Mary, dawn beyond the mind’s grasp, gate of heaven, you are my hope and my trust.
Powerful advocate, stretch out your hands from your throne and help me on my life’s journey. Help me to serve God steadfastly and faithfully until death, so that I may reach eternal life with you.

Blessed is the Child Mary, who became Mother of God and our beloved Mother. Shower us with heavenly graces, listen to us with all your mercy, and look upon my pleas and the needs that press on me from every side, especially the trial I am going through now. I place all my trust in you.
Holy Child Mary, by the privilege granted to you and by your merits, show me that spiritual favour and those constant blessings you pour out and which never run dry, for your power over the Heart of God is without limit.
Through the boundless source of graces with which the Most High filled you from the first moment of your immaculate conception, accept, O heavenly Child, my request, so that I may for ever praise the goodness of your pure Heart. Amen.
