His feast falls on the last Sunday of the liturgical year, before the season of Advent, the season of Christmas; it usually falls on the last Sunday of October.
The novena consists of three prayers and a litany, prayed every day for nine consecutive days:
Lord Jesus Christ, You alone are the holy King and Sovereign of all nations. We implore You, full of hope, to grant us mercy, peace and justice. Divine King, Lord of lords and Prince of peace, protect our families and our countries. Drive our enemies away from us and govern us by Your just rule. Forgive us our sins and the offences by which we have angered Your majesty. Have mercy on us, Lord, keep us and lead us, faithful Shepherd, on the path to heaven. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, I acknowledge that You are the absolute King of the whole universe, and that everything that has been created was created for You: exercise over me all Your rights.
I renew the promises I made at baptism, renouncing Satan and all his pomps and works, and I promise to live a good Christian life and above all to work with all my strength for the triumph of the rights of God and of Your Church.
Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You all my actions and efforts, so that all may acknowledge Your sacred kingship and the reign of Your peace may be established throughout the world. Amen.
