The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, celebrates the kingship of Jesus Christ over all creation and His reign of truth, love, justice, and peace.
In the current Roman Catholic liturgical calendar, the solemnity is celebrated on the last Sunday of the liturgical year, immediately before Advent, the season of preparation for Christmas. In the traditional Roman calendar and the Maronite Catholic Church, the Feast of Christ the King is celebrated on the last Sunday of October.
This novena invites us to acknowledge Christ as the King of our hearts, our families, and our lives. Through prayer, we surrender ourselves to His divine will, place our trust in His mercy and providence, and seek to live under His loving reign.
The novena consists of three prayers and a litany, recited each day for nine consecutive days in preparation for the Feast of Christ the King.
First Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, You alone are the holy King and Sovereign of all nations.
We implore You with hearts full of hope to grant us mercy, peace, and justice.
Divine King, Lord of lords and Prince of Peace, protect our families and our countries.
Drive our enemies away from us and govern us according to Your justice.
Forgive us our sins and the offences by which we have offended Your divine majesty.
Have mercy on us, Lord. Protect us and guide us, O faithful Shepherd, along the path that leads to heaven.

Second Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, I acknowledge that You are the supreme King of the entire universe and that everything that exists was created for You.
Exercise Your rightful authority over me.
I renew the promises of my baptism, renouncing Satan and all his works and empty promises. I promise to live as a faithful Christian and, above all, to strive with all my strength for the triumph of the rights of God and of Your Church.
Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You all my actions and efforts, so that all people may acknowledge Your sacred kingship and the reign of Your peace may be established throughout the world.

Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and Ruler of all creation, You have broken the power of evil and made all things new.
