† Prayer Found in the Tomb of Our Lord Jesus Christ in 1505 †
† Whoever says this prayer will not die a sudden death or an evil death.
† They will be protected from cholera, plague and lightning,
† and will not die without confession.
† They will be delivered from the injustice of enemies and rulers.
† Women who say it during pregnancy will give birth safely.
† And to whoever carries this prayer, our Mother the Virgin Mary will appear forty days before their death.
Pope Saint Gregory told of a captain named Cecily who saw a severed head near Barcelona; the head spoke to him, saying:
† “Send me a priest to hear my confession: robbers cut off my head three days ago, and my soul cannot depart until I have confessed.”
He sent for the priest; the head confessed, and then gave up its spirit.
This prayer was found in his pocket.
† In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen. †
– † O great God, who suffered on the wood of the Cross for my sins, be with me.
– † O Jesus Christ, by Your holy Cross, have mercy on me.
– † Deliver me from all harm and from every sharp weapon.
– † Deliver me from every mortal sin and lead me on the path of salvation.
– † Deliver me from every danger to body or soul.
– † By the power of Your Cross, be my comfort, and strengthen me to bear hardships for love of You.
– † Deliver me from the fire of hell and give me paradise as my inheritance.
– † Increase my faith and make me steadfast in Your love for ever.
– † Before Your Cross, O Master, we bow down,
and Your Resurrection we glorify;
by Your wondrous birth,
by Your precious Blood
and by Your death on the Cross for our sins, keep me. Amen.
– † Keep me, Jesus, for You are able to lead me on the path of salvation,
and number me among Your chosen ones. Amen.
