The Canticle of the Creatures of Saint Francis

All glory is yours, all splendour, all power and all blessing;
to you alone, O Most High, do we belong;
no human lips are worthy to speak your glorious name.

We glorify you, O God, for all your creatures,
especially for Brother Sun,
through whom you give us the light of day.
He is beautiful and radiant with great light, like your own, O Almighty.

We glorify you, O God, for Sister Moon and the stars, our sisters:
you set them in the sky, clear and shining.

We glorify you, O God, for Brother Wind and for the air,
in all their moods, stormy or calm,
a shining sign of the work of your hands.

We glorify you, O God, for Sister Water,
so useful, precious and pure.

We glorify you, O God, for Brother Fire,
through whom you light up the night;
he is beautiful, playful and strong.

We glorify you, O God, for Sister Earth, our mother,
who carries us, with her fruits, her many-coloured flowers and her herbs.

We glorify you, O God, for those who forgive for love of you,
for the love they show to the sick and the needy.
Blessed are those who endure in peace; by you, Most High, they will be crowned.

We glorify you, O God, for Sister Death,
from whom no living person can escape:
woe to those who die in their sins,
blessed are those whom she finds doing your will,
for the second death can do them no harm.

We glorify and bless you, O God, we give you thanks and serve you with great humility and love.
