Christ’s Entry into Jerusalem, or Palm Sunday
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna!
They took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying:
“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!”
And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:
“Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt.”
(John 12:13-15)
On this great day,
we invite you, Jesus Christ, King of heaven and earth, to come to us again and enter our homes and families as you entered Jerusalem, purifying them of every stain and every sin that has kept us from you, so that you may always be the centre of our faith and the centre of our lives.
Grant us, King of the universe, to be your witnesses in our deeds and intentions,
to be humble like you, however high we rise on this earth,
and to realize that all glory that does not come from above is empty and passing glory.
On this Palm Sunday, make us spread out our hearts before you with hope, peace and reconciliation,
so that we cry out from the depths of our hearts:
“Hosanna in the highest, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
Glory and honour to you, King of glory, for ever. Amen.
A blessed Palm Sunday to all, and many happy returns.
