Be joyful, because God is with us
When you are sad, your head bows toward the ground: that is what the devil wants.
When you are joyful, your head is lifted toward heaven: that is what the Lord wants, he who was crucified for you so that your sins might be forgiven and you might always be joyful, with your head lifted toward heaven.
Come, let us rejoice because God is with us, and let us proclaim it in song:
God is with us! Know it, O nations, and be overcome,
(for God is with us… refrain)
Listen, to the ends of the earth.
O mighty ones, be overcome,
for even if you grow strong, you will be overcome again.
Whatever plan you devise, the Lord will scatter it,
and whatever word you speak will not stand.
We will not fear what you fear, nor be troubled,
but we will hallow the Lord our God, and him we will fear.
If I put my trust in him, he will be my sanctuary.
I will put my trust in him and through him I will be saved.
Here am I, and the children God has given me.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.
We who walk in the land of death and its shadow, on us a light has dawned.
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders,
and his peace has no end.
His name shall be called Messenger of Great Counsel,
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Sovereign, Prince of Peace,
Father of the age to come.
God is with us! Know it, O nations, and be overcome, for God is with us!
