Arising from sleep, we fall down before You, O Good One, and sing to You, O Mighty One, the hymn of the angels: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God; through the Theotokos, have mercy on us. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. From bed and sleep You have raised me up:
O Lord, enlighten my mind and my heart, and open my lips, that I may praise You, O Holy Trinity: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God; through the Theotokos, have mercy on us. Now and always and for ever and ever. Amen.
Suddenly the Judge will come, and the deeds of each will be laid bare; therefore in the middle of the night we cry out: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God; through the Theotokos, have mercy on us. (Lord, have mercy: 12 times.) Prayer: Arising from sleep, I thank You, O Holy Trinity, for through Your great goodness and long-suffering You were not angry with me, a sinner, nor did You destroy me in my transgressions; but, as is Your way, You showed me Your love and raised me up as I lay in despair, so that I may rise early and glorify Your majesty.
Now enlighten the eyes of my understanding, open my mouth to meditate on Your words, to understand Your commandments, to do Your will, to sing to You with heartfelt confession and to praise Your all-holy name, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and for ever and ever. Amen. Another prayer: Glory to You, O King, God almighty, who through Your divine providence and love for mankind have made me, a sinner and unworthy, worthy to rise from sleep and to enter Your holy house.
Accept, O Lord, the voice of my supplication as that of Your holy spiritual powers, and be pleased to receive the praise rising to You from my defiled lips, with a pure heart and a humble spirit, so that I too may become a companion of the wise virgins, with the shining lamp of my soul, and glorify You, God the Word, glorified with the Father and the Spirit. Amen. Through the prayers of our holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
