If Jesus showed up at your door without warning… what would you do?
Today I’d like us to think about a few ideas together. What would you say if Jesus turned up at your place unexpectedly one day?
If he arrived without telling you, would you change the film you’re watching? Would you hide the magazine you’re reading?
Would you empty the ashtray in front of you? Would you make a few books disappear from your shelves? Maybe your clothes aren’t appropriate: would you run and change?
And the real question is if he decided to spend two days with you: would you do the same things you usually do every day? Would you say the same things you usually say?
Would he be pleased with the people you meet? With the kind of time you spend together? Would you have something to tell him or ask of him?
This little reflection invites me and invites you to think about the quality of our lives: what should we cut out, and what should we add, if Jesus came to us unexpectedly? How much are we living in watchfulness and prayer, waiting for him like faithful stewards? Let’s think about it, and God be with you.
