A Telling Dream of Padre Pio
Padre Pio loved to tell this dream with joy: “Last night I dreamed that I was looking out of the choir window of the church. I saw the square full of people. I asked them in a loud voice, ‘Who are you and what do you want?’ And the answer came: ‘We want Padre Pio dead.’ I went back into the choir, and the Virgin, the Mother of Jesus, came to meet me and said to me, ‘Don’t be afraid of anything; I am here. Take this weapon, go to the window and use it; it can reach for fifty kilometres around.’ I obeyed, and they all fell to the ground as if dead. I woke up, then fell asleep again, and the dream came back. I saw myself at that window again, and the square was still full of people. I thought to myself: so they’re not dead yet! And I shouted: ‘Can I at least know who you are and what you want?’ They all answered me: ‘Father, we are your children, and we want your blessing!’… The weapon, as you must have guessed, was the rosary, which never left Padre Pio’s fingers.”
The meaning of the dream is that this crowd, which had been hostile, was converted through the prayer of the rosary.

Padre Pio’s most beautiful words about the Virgin Mary
God willed that the anniversary of Saint Pio’s beatification should coincide with the beginning of Mary’s month, for he gave the Virgin Mary a special place throughout his holy journey, believing that “all the graces God gives pass through Mary”.
It was he who said:
– How I wish I could love the Virgin Mary as much as she deserves! But know that all the saints and all the angels cannot love Mary as much as she deserves.
– All the graces God gives pass through Mary.
– Always stay close to this heavenly Mother, for she is the sea we must cross to reach the shores of eternal paradise.
– Mary is the star that lights our path and shows us the sure way to reach the heavenly Father.
– I love Our Lady, and out of love for her I always pray the holy Rosary.
– Mary is the anchor to which you must cling more and more in times of trial.
– Listen, my Mother, I love you more than all creatures on earth and in heaven… after Jesus, of course, but I love you… You are beautiful, my Mother; I am proud to have such a wonderful Mother.
– May the Virgin, who knew so well how to combine work and prayer, be your true model and your inspiration.
When we pass an image of the Virgin Mary, we should say: “Hail Mary, give my greetings to Jesus.” For Mary is the star that lights our path and shows us the sure way to the heavenly Father.
My brothers and sisters, do not be afraid to honour Our Lady; love her as Saint Padre Pio taught us, who always prayed her rosary and amazed the world with his miracles… Let us rely on her in our lives as he did, because she is the way that will lead us to our heavenly Father.
