“Let us begin the month of April with very positive and very precious words, if we reflect on them carefully. These words are often attributed to Mother Teresa.” (They are adapted from Kent M. Keith’s “Paradoxical Commandments”; a version of them hung on the wall of her children’s home in Calcutta.)
“People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centred;
forgive them anyway.”
“If you are kind, people may accuse you of hidden motives;
be kind anyway.”
“If you are successful, you will win false friends;
succeed anyway.”
“If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
be honest and frank anyway.”
“What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
build anyway.”
“If you find happiness and contentment, people may be jealous;
be happy anyway.”
“The good you do today, people will forget tomorrow;
do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have anyway.
For in the end, it is between you and your God;
it was never between you and them anyway…!”
…Now it’s up to us to put them into practice, my brothers and sisters… Can we do it?
