On 17 January 1871, during the war, the Blessed Virgin Mary came to Pontmain, a small village in France, to bring a message of peace. From that day on, the war came to an end and the soldiers went home.
In her apparition at Pontmain, the Virgin Mary reminded people of the importance of prayer, strengthened hope in their hearts and brought peace.
Prayer
Today our fervent prayer to you is that peace, the fruit of justice, truth and charity, may take root in our hearts, our families, our country and all nations.
Increase in our souls the desire to live our faith fully, without any compromise, in every circumstance of our lives. Help us always to understand others and to love them deeply in God.
