Lord God, we want to live this season of Lent in the truth of your word.
Grant us, Lord, to be transparent to the Spirit of Christ, to be able to share with our brothers and sisters and to open ourselves to their happiness,
through Christ Jesus who, having made himself the servant of all, shares your glory for ever and ever.
Great God, who through the life-giving death of your Christ brought us from death to life,
set free, O Lord, all our senses during this blessed fifty-day fast,
purifying them and awakening our inner awareness, guiding and teaching us:
may our eyes keep away from every sight unworthy of the children of God our Saviour,
and may our tongue refrain from every unseemly word.
Cleanse, O Lord, our lips and our hands from the stain of sin, so that we may praise you and present our offerings with deep reverence,
and receive your holy Eucharist into hearts made ready.
Amen.
