Thanksgiving Verses for Thanksgiving Day
The Old and New Testaments contain many verses in which thanks are given to the Lord,
in many places and circumstances, and many psalms also offer praise, thanksgiving and glory to the Lord. Here are a few of them, which I wanted to reflect on with you, especially on this blessed day of Thanksgiving in Canada, celebrated on the second Monday of October. For a long time, as the harvest season arrives, Canadians have given thanks to God for the fruits and vegetables the land gives them.
“And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them,
saying, ‘Drink of it, all of you.'”
Matthew 26:27
“Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted.”
John 6:11
“So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard me.'”
John 11:41
“And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives for ever and ever…”
Revelation 4:9
“And all the angels stood round the throne and round the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
