Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel
(Feast day: July 16)
Day One
O beautiful Flower of Carmel, most fruitful vine, splendour of heaven, holy and singular,
who brought forth the Son of God while remaining a pure virgin, assist us in our necessity! O Star of the Sea, help and protect us.
Show us that you are our Mother.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us.
Day Two
Holy Mary, our Mother, in your great love for us you gave us the Holy Scapular of Carmel,
in answer to the prayers of your chosen son, Saint Simon Stock.
Help us now to wear it with faith, devotion and fervent love,
as a sign of our desire to grow in holiness.

Day Three
Queen of Heaven, you gave us this Scapular as an outward sign by which we are known as your faithful children.
May we always wear it with honour by avoiding sin and imitating your virtues. Help us to be faithful to this desire.

Day Four
When you gave us, gracious Lady, this Scapular as our garment, you called us not only to be your servants but also your children. We ask you to obtain for us from your Son the grace to live as your children in joy, peace and love.

Day Five
Mother of Fair Love, in your goodness you have called us, as your children, to live in the spirit of Carmel.
Help us to live in charity with one another, prayerful like the prophet Elijah, and mindful of our call to serve God’s children.

Day Six
With loving care, sweet Mother, you have covered us with your Scapular as a shield of protection against the Evil One.
With your help, may we bravely resist the power of evil, always open to the inspirations of your Son, Jesus Christ.

Day Seven
Mary, Help of Christians, you assured us that wearing your Scapular worthily would keep us safe from harm.
Protect us in body and soul with your continual aid. May all that we do be pleasing to your Son and to you.

Day Eight
Mother of Mercy, you gave us hope through the promise attached to the Scapular: that we may pass quickly through the fires of Purgatory into the Kingdom of your Son. Be our comfort and our hope. Grant that our hope may not be in vain, but that, faithful to your Son and to you, we may soon after death enjoy the blessed company of Jesus and the saints.

Day Nine
Most holy Mother of Carmel, when a saint asked you to grant privileges to the family of Carmel,
you gave a covenant and an assurance of your motherly love and help to all who are faithful to you and to your Son.
Look upon us, your children, who proudly wear your holy Scapular, which makes us members of your Carmelite family, and through which we shall receive your powerful protection in life, at the hour of death and even after death.
Look with love, O Gate of Heaven, on all who are now in their final agony.
Look kindly, O Virgin, Flower of Carmel, on all who are in need of help.
Look mercifully, O Mother of our Saviour, on all who do not know that they are numbered among your children.
Look tenderly, O Queen of All Saints, on all the suffering souls.
