Translation of the meaning
O our Mother, O our Mother, O Virgin Mary,
you are a partner, a partner in the redemption.
Be our advocate, O our Mother, in easy days and in hardship,
O our Mother.
Gabriel called you, he spoke to you in secret:
“Come into the world that has heard whispers of your coming.”
Give us your tenderness, do not withhold it; how often we have called on you, longing to meet you.
Our peace is in your peace, and our life in your life.
How often we have sunk, far away from you, and the waves nearly swept us off,
had we not cried out to you for help.
Note: the title “partner in the redemption” (co-redemptrix) reflects popular devotion; the Church has not defined it as dogma, and the 2025 doctrinal note “Mater populi fidelis” from the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith judges the title inappropriate, while affirming Mary’s unique cooperation in Christ’s work.
