What Are You Waiting For?

What Are You Waiting For?

If you are waiting for the tree to bow down at midnight (on the night of the Epiphany), let me reassure you: don’t wait.
If you hang dough with money in it on your door so that it will be blessed and your money will multiply, let me reassure you: there’s no need to put it there.
If you are waiting for Christ to pass by your house, let me reassure you too: don’t wait for him.
Do you want to know where Christ is?
Christ is waiting for you at Mass.
Christ is waiting for you to kneel with all your heart in the confessional, and he will give you his mercy.
Christ is waiting for you to receive Communion and bow down before his love.
Christ is waiting for you to open the door to him, so that he may bless you and your family.
Christ is waiting for you to pray, so that he may understand what you want.
Christ is waiting for you in your baptism, to give you the grace of being his child.
Christ is waiting for you at the crossroads of your life, so that you do not lose your way.
Christ is waiting for you in the morsel of bread you share with your fellow human being.
Christ is waiting for you in your neighbour, your relative and your brother, to tell you that all possessions are vain glory.
Christ is always waiting for you to say to him: “Yes, Lord.”
Wherever you are, and however deep you are sunk in the filth of sin, he will always hold out his hand to you and say: “Seek, and you will find… I am with you always, to the close of the age.”

“Dayem, dayem”… may we always remain in the heart of God.

(“Dayem, dayem” is the traditional Lebanese Epiphany greeting. The bowing tree and the dough hung on the door are popular customs of that night.)
