Prayer for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-giving Cross
O Christ God, who were lifted up willingly on the Cross,
grant Your compassion to Your new people called by Your name;
gladden with Your power our faithful rulers, granting them victory over their adversaries;
may Your help, O Lord, be for them a weapon of peace and an invincible trophy.
O Christ God, we sinners bow down today before Your precious Cross, which Moses prefigured of old in his own person
when he defeated and overcame Amalek; and David the psalmist called us to bow down before Your footstool, You who accepted to be nailed to it.
Therefore we praise You with unworthy lips, crying out to You with the good thief:
Lord, make us worthy of Your Kingdom.
