Short Prayers to Christ by Saint Veronica Giuliani

Some “short prayers to Christ” by Saint Veronica Giuliani:

“O my Jesus, You let Yourself be put on the Cross: crucify me with You!”

“O my Jesus, I consecrate myself to You. You told me that those who love the Cross have no other home than Your own Heart. So I declare myself a lover, a lover of the Cross, and I sign this declaration with my own blood.”

“Lord, You drank every bitterness; I want to drink it too, in Your company. The Cross is no longer for You, now that You are in glory: pass it on to me.”

“O my beloved Treasure, I ask You this grace: bring down my pride and my arrogance; fill me with kindness and gentleness, like Your Heart.”

“The Lord lets me see clearly my weakness and His almighty power; my lowliness and His greatness; my nothingness and His All, His Infinite, His incomparable All. And this All, where does He set up His throne? Where does He hold His court? In our nothingness. The more the soul sinks into its nothingness, the more God shows Himself to it, unites it to Himself and fills it with His infinite Love; and this Love, destroying everything that keeps it from acting, reigns alone as absolute Monarch.”

“Let us take Jesus crucified as our model, and we will be completely changed. Let us do everything in union with the sufferings of the Saviour.”

“O sinful men and women… all of you, come to the Heart of Jesus; come to the bath of His Precious Blood… He is waiting for you with open arms to embrace you.”

“When I began my work, Jesus would say to me: ‘Come, do it for Me, through Me!’ When I finished, He would say: ‘It is I who have done it!'”

Saint Veronica Giuliani (1660–1727) was abbess of the Capuchin Poor Clares’ convent in Città di Castello, in Umbria, Italy. Her life of union with Christ was so intense that she received the stigmata and the marks of the crown of thorns.
