The apparitions
The Virgin appeared five times:
- Wednesday 15 December 1982: no message, because Myrna ran away in fright.
- Saturday 18 December 1982: first message, a general message, in standard Arabic.
- Saturday 8 January 1983: a single word, in colloquial Arabic.
- Monday 21 February 1983: second message, a personal message, in colloquial Arabic.
- Thursday 24 March 1983: third message, a general message, in standard Arabic.
These messages meet the Gospel in their deep spirituality and their urgent call to faith and love, to proclaiming Emmanuel, to repentance and humility, to joy in the Lord, to mutual forgiveness and to the unity of the Church. All the apparitions took place at night, on the terrace, and Myrna alone saw the Virgin. During the apparitions, a deep atmosphere of prayer and peace filled the space around her and the whole house.
The apparition took place on a horizontal branch of a eucalyptus tree standing on the bank of a stream, about fifteen metres (fifty feet) south of the house. First a ball of light appeared, which opened to reveal a large blue crescent that faded as soon as the Virgin appeared. The Virgin was at first seated on the branch; then she rose and moved towards the terrace of the house, leaving a path of light behind her, passed through the iron railing and stood on the terrace. Myrna could not understand how the Virgin passed through the iron railing, and wondered: “How can a human body pass through an iron barrier?” She was dressed in a white robe tied with a blue sash, her head covered by a kind of hood that was part of the robe, and she wore a blue shawl over her right shoulder (somewhat reminiscent of Murillo’s painting of the Assumption of the Virgin).
In her right hand, between the middle and ring fingers, she held a transparent rosary; her right forearm was folded at chest level, while her left arm hung along her body. Her feet were hidden. The Virgin gave her message to Myrna, and none of the others present heard anything she said; Myrna repeated aloud the message she was receiving. At the end of the apparition, the Virgin moved back towards the eucalyptus tree; once she was above the branch her image vanished, and then the ball of light faded too.
